About Sapphire Labs
Sapphire Labs is an innovation services firm that builds products, systems, and teams for high-growth startups and enterprise clients. We partner closely with our clients to design and ship production-grade software—fast.
Our teams are small, senior, and highly collaborative. We value ownership, curiosity, and execution. Titles matter less than impact, and leadership is earned through initiative and consistently high-quality work.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to work closely with Sapphire Labs’ internal engineering, product, and delivery teams, supporting both internal platforms and client-facing products across fintech, energy, SaaS, and enterprise domains.
This is a hands-on design role. You’ll be embedded with small, senior engineering teams, shaping product direction, designing end-to-end user experiences, and helping ship real software—not just mockups.
A typical week may include:
- Partnering with engineers and product leads to clarify requirements and define product scope
- Designing and prototyping user flows for internal tools and client applications
- Iterating quickly based on engineering constraints, timelines, and feedback
- Establishing and refining design systems, patterns, and UX standards
- Supporting multiple projects in parallel while maintaining quality and consistency
What You’ll Do
- Translate business and technical requirements into clear, intuitive user experiences
- Design user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes
- Collaborate daily with engineers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately
- Participate in product discovery, roadmap discussions, and scope definition
- Balance speed and polish—knowing when to ship and when to refine
- Maintain and evolve internal design systems and reusable components
- Review implemented features and provide UX feedback post-development
- Advocate for the user while understanding real-world engineering and business constraints
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have
- 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design (not just visuals)
- Deep experience designing web applications (SaaS, dashboards, internal tools)
- Excellent understanding of UX fundamentals: information architecture, usability, accessibility
- High proficiency with Figma (components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping)
- Strong communication skills—you can explain design decisions clearly to engineers and stakeholders
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Self-starter mindset with strong ownership and follow-through
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
- Experience working in consulting, agencies, or product studios.
- Familiarity with fintech, energy, analytics, or enterprise platforms
- Experience collaborating with distributed or nearshore engineering teams
- Basic understanding of front-end development (React, design systems, component-based UI)
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a design system
How We Work
Small, senior teams (you won’t be buried in hierarchy)
Designers sit close to engineering—real collaboration, not handoffs
High visibility projects with meaningful impact
Emphasis on speed, clarity, and execution
Strong preference for designers who enjoy building, iterating, and shipping
